Using The Web 2.0 To Build Backlinks

Building a quality backlink seems to be getting tougher and tougher every single day.  Now with the huge Google slap for web directories, people are looking for alternative ways to build free links that are valuable for their search engine rankings.  From this increasing need for a source of free links, there has been a great discovery.

Now there are websites that offer you the opportunity to create your own web page, or in some cases even an entire blog that is hosted from their site.  This means that you can put up content on somebody another website and then link that content back to your website, and for free!

Here are a few of those wonderful websites:

  • Squidoo
  • BlogSpot
  • Hubpages
  • Weebly
  • WordPress
  • MySpace
  • FaceBook
  • Google

Allow me to explain how these websites are used to create a valuable backlink to your website.

When you go to any of the above sites, you can sign up for a free account that will allow you to start publishing content from their site.  Let’s use Squidoo as our example.  Once you have created a free account you are then able to login and go to a main account page.  What you want to do is to create what Squidoo calls a “Lens”, which is just a fancy name for a single page website.  They allow you to choose your own URL as well, this will end up being Squidoo.com/Whatever-You-Choose.  What you want to do is select 1 keyword per lens that you build and use that keyword as the URL for that lens as well.

So if you were making a lens about “Baseball Cards”, your ideal squidoo URL would be Squidoo.com/Baseball-Cards.  This will help to increase the keyword ranking of the page.  You want to use the keyword that you are trying to get your main site to rank for.

After creating your lens, the next step is to publish content on the lens.  So write a good article about whatever your topic is, and make sure that you use your keyword a few times in the article and also in the article title.

Once the article is written, you will then want to take the keywords that you placed into the article and use those to link back to your main website.  This is done by using the html code for linking, that is:

<a href=”YourURLGoesHere”>Keyword Goes Here</a>

By placing that code into your article you will link the text up to your main website which will create a backlink from a high authority website.  Not only are you creating a link, but you are also creating a powerful marketing tool that is permanent and it will greatly increase in value over time as.

Build As Many “Mini Sites” or “Hub Pages” As Humanly Possible

If you want to benefit the most from this type of marketing, you should create as many pages as possible.  All that you need is just 1 keyword optimized article and a little time.  You should have a page with as many web 2.0 websites as possible and make sure that you build separate pages for each individual keyword or key phrase that you are targeting.

There are even some companies or services that will create these pages for you.  I highly suggest that if you do not have the time or will to do this yourself that you pay somebody else to do it.  This is not something that you want your website to be without.  People are using web 2.0 sites like the ones mentioned above everyday to help establish their websites and improve search engine rankings through link building.  Start taking advantage of these free backlinks and build your pages today!
