SEO for seo sake!
SEO is good, there is no doubt about this, and every good website and blog will be optimised in some way or other. To have the right keywords in the text of your blog is an essential tool, and it cannot be underestimated…
However, there are several things that can happen when you begin to SEO your website or blog. The worst of these is the blog post that looks like it’s written in a different language simply due to all the keywords placed, seemingly at random, throughout the text. I have read many of these blog (or attempted to) and always contacted the webmaster to let them know about the error of their ways; i don’t like to see people fail when they needn’t. There are some excellent books and websites out there offering advice on optimising your website or blog, and nearly all of them will agree on one thing: don’t over do it!
Google and the other big search engine players will actually penalize you if you over optimise your website, so be careful. A few carefully placed keywords will be sufficient for Google to see that you site is good and that the text and titles relate to the content of the site. If you pour keywords all over the text then it is likely to be skipped by the search engines and you will not only provide boring textual content, it will also be pretty useless!
