New Year for SEO

There is another new year approaching and everyone is thinking about making even more money from their website or blog.  It’s such a shame we live in such a capitalist economy don’t you think?  No?  Me neither.  Let’s talk about how to make more money shall we?…

Well it goes like this.  Do not neglect the textual content of your website.  This can make or break a website these days.  The amount of sites i’ve seen vanish into thin air and cyberspace due to the fact that they have a really flashy look but no text is unbelievable.  It’s all good and well have great graphics, and great navigation, and even a great product or service, but if you haven’t got any text then you’re virtually invisible top the search engines; particularly when you consider all the websites out there that are optimising their websites for better keyword concentration.

Now there is a phrase.  Keyword concentration.  This is basically the amount of keywords and phrases you  have placed on your website in  given amount of space.  There is a delicate balance here, and i heard it somewhere on the grapevine that Google did, or are going to start, penalise people who literally drenched their websites with keywords that made the text virtually unreadable.  This is no fun anyway is it?  I like the game of inserting the keywords and phrases where no-one notices, or at least no-one who has SEO knowledge anyway.

A safe rule here is to do it sensibly.  Place your keywords and phrases quite liberally, but don’t be ridiculous with them.  Do not make the mistake of making your websites dull because of keywords; people will leave!
