Monetising your Blog

A couple of days ago i wrote a post about turning your blog into a way to make a little cash.  Some of you may have started to do this, and some of you are probably yet to read the first post.  Click here to read the post on blogging.  There are a few ways that you can get ahead of the competition when if comes to monetising your blog…

I am assuming you have taken the time to work out who is visiting your blog and what they are interested in.  Then you should have, or at least be looking at, ways to focus on these people and tailor your blogging to suit their preferences.  If you have a lot of men visiting you blog then perhaps you might want to talk about cars and girls a little more than usual to captivate them (a very simple example i know, please don’t complain!)

So what else can you do?  Well you can start by picking a selection of words that seem to appear naturally in your blog posts.  These words have to be related to the new content you’ve started writing for your new class of visitor, so the best thing to do would be not to worry too much until you have blogged naturally for a month or so.  After this time you’ll find a trend in the occurrence of particular words.

Now you can optimise your blog even more to deliberately place these words a little more frequently in your blob.  However, here is an important note.  Be sure to only choose words to optimise with that your visitors, or the that type of person, are likely to type into a seach engine to help them find a website like yours.  If someone is looking for a catfood supplier they will type “cat food suppliers”
